- Performs fire and gas detection system design for offshore platforms and onshore plants (field devices), interface requirements of mechanical packages with main system (skid or non-skid items), control valve and orifice sizing (flow device and elements).
​
Specification of gas and fire field detectors in the process, utility and quarter areas. Specification of addressable smoke and heat detectors inside platform quarters. Ensure proper wiring interface between addressable system and main fire and gas detection system are connected according to the requirement. Factory Acceptance Test FAT for fire and gas system programmable logic controller to ensure logic is constructed correctly according to the cause and effect matrix.

- Confirming that mechanical packages interfaces signals between package panel and the process control system, shutdown system, fire and gas system and internal system are properly checked on drawings, consistent with other related documents.
​
- Based on the given process conditions, calculate flow device size using suppliers sizing programme and cross checked against in-house sizing software result to ensure proper selection. Also with reference to relevant standards/guidelines by British Standards BS and American Institute of Petroleum API

- assist in costing exercise/project for petrochemical plants (onshore)
- getting suitable pricing for labour/manpower assistance and purchase of material-take-off items from suppliers (tubing and fitting, cable tray/ladder, cables, etc.)
- check technical requirements by consultant and suitably prepare the specifications.
- prepare technical documents/philosophy for work procedures and routines as well as block diagram, termination/wiring drawings to visualise the scope of work.

Prepare manpower schedule for instrument scope of work, with reference to the overall project timing, to ensure that the budget allocated is within the limit based on the material-take-off quantities, works that are required to complete the tasks.

Assist in setting up the project management team for the project in-hand for award to manage the project (number of project manager, safety engineer, instrument engineer and other manpower labour required).
​
Calculate and verify labour sufficiency, with the aid of costing adjustment using Microsoft Excel as required by the project team to manage a project. A guarantee of labour supply is required with marginal earning (percentage) in today’s competitive environment where bidders are plenty and the project tenders are limited.
